I love it :) I've used mine now for about 10 nights on a few trips and I'll say that this is a great rooftop tent for the price. It's my first so I have nothing to compare it to, but a mate of mine has a Drifta 2 man which is a lot more expensive and this one is much more spacious inside - with the best bonus that you lay down vertically opposite the main entrance because of the foldout design. Easy setup, spacious inside, and even when it rains heavily, you can have all the windows open because of the window shades - meaning when it's muggy and rainy, you can still get the much needed ventilation. I've been driving in a downpour and camped in a downpour, and there's been no leakages anywhere. Hidden tip. There is a large condensation barrier on the inside of the main roof shell. This happens to be exactly the right size, shape, and colour to make a large projector screen ! You can run a cordless LED projector off your phone for bigscreen movies or streaming youtube when it's wet or windy outside and project onto your own personal screen that is always there. Bluetooth speakers and you have your own private cinema in your rooftop tent. Sure I'm a bit of a geek but this is a huge bonus for me. Ocam support was very responsive and helpful too when I had an issue with the delivery, and when I wanted another part for it. I'm glad I bought from them. An easy 5 stars for the value that this RTT gives you. Oh - you might want to beef up the comfort of the standard mattress if you are heavier than 75kg. The standard mattress is too thin for bigger dudes. I use a queen sized memory foam mattress laid on top and it's actually more comfortable than my main bed at home. Meaning, I just want to camp more ! :)

Best rooftop tent for a family
By: John Mez on 9 May 2022
I tested the king size rooftop tent on a three day adventure with my wife and two kids, my 2 year old loves it! Forever climbing up and down. So easy to put up and down, with plenty of room for all four of us in our family. My wife loved it so much she’s keen for another weekend away this month…

After sales support
By: Gary Schmidt on 26 January 2022
Hi Dan, Brad, Josh and all the guys in the warehouse! I wanted to thank you all for your excellent customer support following the purchase of the king-size RTT! I purchased this tent last year and although there were a couple of teething problems, Dan and his guys were always willing to help. The tent is spacious and very comfortable, easy to setup and pack down, made from good quality materials, representing good value for the money. The tent had a leak along the aluminium rivets that secure the tent to the hard cover. I spoke to Dan who asked me to bring the tent in for some repairs to fix the problem however during our next trip the leak reappeared. I emailed Dan and the team who, as soon as they were able to return to the Rocklea store following a case of COVID decided to replace the tent with the latest updated model. They even helped me to remove the old and install the new tent on my camper - I couldn’t be more impressed! The key changes are - a black instead of translucent foldout floor, clothe covered poles, an internal spreader bar and 2 hanging shoe bags. Product looks great too. Very happy with the outcome! Thanks guys! Gary

you get what you pay for
By: Tim on 29 July 2021
The GOOD: great price. huge amount of space. adaptable to open whatever side. easy enough to install. quick to set up. good ventilation from well protected windows. The BAD: - I wont comment too much on the design which it follows quite closely except to say that the fly sits right on top of the canvas without any gap for air circulation making the whole thing very prone to condensation in the roof no matter how you tension it. - the fold out section seems only supported at either end which means it bows alarmingly if you sit on it in the middle. doesnt bother me lying down and i dont think it will fail but neither is it particularly confidence inspiring. It is also is not quite flat without body weight on it, which in turn over tensions the straps that attach it to the tent structure, and I suspect that where those attach to the fold out section wont last long and they look flimsy and area already looking a bit bent. -needs locktite or spring washers or something otherwise the screws that attach it to your roof keep loosening over time and need to be tightened regularly – like every 10km of corrugated road... very difficult to tighten sufficiently to stop it slowly migrating around the racks which is moderately terrifying. I hold it on with tie downs on bumpy roads, which kind of defeat the purpose of being quick to set up etc. - mattress is atrocious. Sure can be replaced but still. Very thin, unsupportive, and negligible insulative value. and i'm used to closed cell foam.... -was a little disappointed to pull it out of the box and have the rivets holding one of the 4 closure straps not there so the strap was just flapping about useless. however for less than half the price of its obvious competitor this was not totally unexpected - the barrel of one of the the outer hinges slides out of position over time and needs to be hammered back in. - the awning zipper is a foot too short – maybe designed for the queen sized one and not changed? Sloppy. - may be user error, but having the ladder not fully extended (ours is mounted on a trailer makes for a significant crush risk as those lower closed rungs open and close with weight on them. Have taken to tying them closed. Again, not deal breaker but pretty annoying. - finally, weight a @#$%ton more than advertised – may be a significant issue depending on your racks weight limits. Haven’t weighed it but is definitely more than the 75-something kg it is advertised to be OVERALL disappointing and not worth the trouble. Difficult to warranty because it is a mass of smaller issues, and we are in the middle of a long trip and currently remains functional as a tent. Would give 1.5 stars – not a complete failure but pretty close. Obviously buying a large hard shell RTT for half the price its main competitor was going to have some compromises, but overall not worth it.

One month review
By: byjingo48340721 on 7 July 2021
I bought the OCAM King RTT to cater for myself and kids. It is actually really good. The canvas is well made and sealed very well. You can't store any sleeping gear in the tent when closed so I got rid of the 40mm foam mattress (80mm when closed) and bought a double and single self inflating mattresses. When flat they take up less space so I can keep a king size quilt up there too. Pillows still have to go in the car but that's not too bad. The are some open holes in the base of the tent where the two halves fold. You will need to block these if going any where near mozzies or midgies. The windows and fly screens are otherwise good. The only thing tacky about the whole set up is the straps to hold it closed. Otherwise it is great value. It has endured storms and winds and handles it really well. The dark coffee colour means lights are required inside even during the day but this is perfect for sleeping in as very little light gets in to wake you up. Some condensation does occur as with any RTT but nothing gets wet. It is only very light. For the money it is a really good, spacious RTT. And it only took about four days to get it delivered. I am very happy with it. Hint; buy the self inflating mattresses, add power and lighting and enjoy.i am very happy with it.

Disappointed but I should have known better
By: Aaron Treay on 12 April 2021
This is my third RTT and unfortunately it's not my best. - almost zero space for bedding. So unable to set it up like my last ones. - the top articulates out on the hinge side so this means the awning now has to be relocated via a custom fabricated mounting. - vinyl that velcros between the two hinged bases is already showing cuts despite being opened and closed Less than 5 times. No pinch points etc. - the clasps to fasten the top down are internally mounted in the top. This is just poor design and makes it difficult to close. - mattress is inadequate. The join results in discomfort. However we cannot fit a mattress topper as the clamshell does not have enough space to allow for it. - finally the ladder is not working / locking into position always leaving a rung loose. So the tent isn't very well supported. Positives: it's shiney. - canvas appears to be ok. Only minimal work needed to make it suitable for our conditions. (Ie: adding Mesh insert to the gaps at the hinge on base) - weighted front door is a nice touch Overall this is disappointing, we are looking for a replacement asap as this tent will simply not do. We are unable to sell it on as those that come look at it despite being brand new just walk away. It's my own fault, so I accept the cost. I'll buy the mainstream units in future (Bundutec, alucab etc)

Awesome tent
By: stvherring05350 on 12 January 2021
This tent sets up in no time at all which is just what I wanted so O can enjoy my camping & festivals without having to waste lots of preparation time. Haven't used the annexe yet so can't comment on that. My only issue with the tent is there were no instructions at all.

It’s ok, but could be better
By: tangaroa3245920 on 6 January 2021
Fits perfect on the car the mattress is a little thin but does the job disappointed that when I first opened it I had to clean out all the aluminium swarf in side from drilling during the tent being manufactured. Also better mounting brackets would be better only just fit on the pro rack roof racks and constantly have to tighten. The canvas is good quality and so far hasn’t leaked plenty of room inside.

Great RTT
By: Daniel Organ on 5 January 2021
My overall rating is a big thumbs up. The pros are size, it fits in the space on roof of my dual cab canopy which allows me to use my racks on top of the cab for max trax and shovel orveven a roof basket. Also the canvas design is like no other. It provides shelter on windows and entry and good airflow. The zippering is fantastic with double sided heavy duty zippers. Midjee screens are great to keep out those very annoying pests. Easy to erect and pack down. Its a great tent which im very happy with. The awning is also a great option, giving a large area of shade. The poles are adequate to hold up the awning. Cons are, and dont get me wrong, this is a very adequate tent and can be easily lived with without improvements but like everything else theres always room for improvements. The stitching on stress points need to be improved ie where the awning attaches near the adjustable straps as mine has pulled out a little and will probably end up unstitched. The roof of the shell could also be lowered as there is ample room in roof cavity to allow at least 20mm of more clearance for those who have garages and maybe a little more stylish would be nice. One more con that could also be improved is the tie down points, i find it hard to hold onto the buckles and thread through the straps, maybe over centre latching could be experimented with. Also it would be nice if an improved mattress was provided such as a dual or tripple layer design. The con with awning is that another x2 short poles should be provided for the sides of awning as the eyelets are not designed to be ropped down and will tear in high wind. Either adding another 2 poles or reinforce the eyelet.or change design. Awning also could provide a littele more coverage on sides so when it rains it doesnt blow through and under sides closest to vehicle. Other than that, i have used this tent for a week and am very happy with it. I will need to address the stitching that has come loose and will be experimenting with better mattresses. Apart from improvements, the tent is good to go, the only thing you will need is a little more comfort in the bedding department. Everything else is workable to a degree you will be happy during your time with the tent.

Roof top tent king size
By: Joe Jones on 22 July 2020
When looking for a roof top tent I did a lot of research and for the price you really can't do much better than this tent. Set up is a breeze, fully set up in a couple of minutes, I am often sitting back finished having a beer watching my friends fight to put up dome tents. Pack up is just as easy you can leave a couple of pillows and 2 sleeping bags in the tent when packed up, I also leave a blow up mattress in the tent for extra comfort. Heaps of room in the tent I sleep on a queen blow up mattress and have plenty of room on the sides for luggage. The only downfall is that the tent isn't completely sealed when packed up and got a few wet patches when I drove 10hours through heavy rain. Other then that it's an excellent buy and more than $2000 cheaper then the competitor.

From Up Here Camping Takes On A Whole New And Exci
By: Rod McCulloch on 14 January 2020
In 1970, Dinah and I commenced our love affair with travel, and we haven’t stopped yet. Over the past 50 years we have visited more than 50 countries, travelling in everything from kombie vans to caravans, by plane, train and cruise ship, sleeping in everything from white-washed villas on the Greek Islands to two-man tents in the Australian outback. We still love travelling and we love the adventure inherent in exploring new places and experiencing new things. In recent times, our travels have seen us journeying through Asia, exploring ancient castles and cathedrals in Europe, enjoying a pint (or two) in a 12th century English pub, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Christmas revellers in New York’s Times Square, marvelling at the ancient temple gardens in Shanghai, walking on the Great Wall of China, soaking up the sun on Hawaii’s famous Waikiki Beach, silently gliding past nesting crocodiles in Australia’s ‘top end’, or simply camping under the stars in one of this country’s many national parks. While we a fortunate enough to own an excellent caravan and over the last few years have seen much of Australia in it, recently we invested in a roof-top tent, perfect for those short-stay escapes. While roof-top tents are not exactly new, with canvas tents fixed to the roof of the four wheel drive often the choice for travellers going to remote locations, this new breed of ‘hard-shell’ rooftop tent adds a whole new dimension of luxury and convenience to the notion of sleeping off the ground. It also adds a significant degree of practicality and affordability. And you wake up feeling on top of the world. Literally! Late last year, Dinah and I decided to invest in a hard-shell roof-top tent. We wanted something that was quick and easy to set up (and pull down) for overnight stops, as well as something that was durable enough to combat the extreme elements of the Australian countryside. We did our homework, reviewing the brands available on the Australian market. We found everything from mass-produced hard-shell tents that simply pop up, usually under $1000, to the more expensive and better designed imported tents that range anywhere from $1500 to $5000. We finally settled on a tent from Australian company, OCAM Industries. OCAM hard shell tents are sturdy and well-constructed and come in a choice of King or Queen bed sizes. They mount easily to the roof racks of most four wheel drives and can literally be set up in minutes. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the tent fixes to the cross-bars of our Rhino Vortex roof racks with four simple brackets, making it simple to fit and then remove when you are not travelling. Simply release the hard-cover fasteners, reach up and pull out and down the telescopic ladder and the tent sets itself up. Insert the awning and window stays and you are ready to climb aboard. The OCAM tent comes with its own high density foam mattress. The tent also comes with an optional awning that simply zips to the front of the tent. The awning is really roomy and is well worth investing in as it not only gives you privacy, it affords protection from the elements. The OCAM hard shell roof-top tent is excellent value and is a convenient and practical way of enjoying the great outdoors. OCAM Industries have stores in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. You can either order online or buy directly from one of the stores. We purchased ours from their Rocklea store in Brisbane where the guys helped fit it for me. The service was excellent. You can check out the OCAM roof-top tents as well as a comprehensive range of four wheel drive accessories at: www.ocamindustries.com.au Stepping back in time Naturally, we couldn’t wait to trial our new roof-top tent. Living on the Sunshine Coast we have no shortage of choices when it comes to places to camp, either right on the coast or in our beautiful hinterland. For our first trip away, we opted for Kenilworth, a picturesque country town located in the heart of the Mary Valley about 50 kilometres from Brisbane and about an hour’s drive from our home. We’ve visited Kenilworth many times and love it. The town retains its traditional 1930’s atmosphere and offers a surprising range of attractions for visitors including a very engaging historical museum as well as a number of excellent eateries, shops and even an art gallery. We love the traditional main street with its eclectic mix of fashion shops, stores full of country bric-a-brac and trendy coffee shops, not to mention the historic Kenilworth Hotel, the pub at the top of town. This is a great place for a hot dinner and a cold beer. We’ve also visited Kenilworth for the annual Kenilworth Show and Rodeo held on the third Saturday in September. A terrific experience where you can slip on your RM’s and squatter’s hat and mingle like a local. If you haven’t been to a country show and rodeo you are really missing one of the truly great Aussie experiences. Perhaps the most famous attraction in this gr
